A Place for All the Crap in My Head
Basically gonna throw whatever I feel like here. I'm an aspiring writer so you'll see a lot of short pieces and bits of script and dialogue, O Hypothetical Audience. Seriously if I don't write stuff down right away, it starts festering in my head and degenerating into bullshit until it no longer resembles the fresh, raw idea it originally began life as. Like any of us, I suppose. Except for the writing down bit. What a shitty metaphor.

just had the strangest fleeting feeling. it was there and then it was gone and i can’t explain what it was. ever get that? it’s damned unsettling.

we all need a robot friend

I totally agree. It would be so rad!
It is my greatest dream to A) have a robot sidekick and B) to pilot a Mecha. It’s a burning passion. It consumes me.

JOSEPH!!!

Should I? Hmph. Might I remind you, missy, that this is a workblog. It is for Serious Business. Yes. Quite.

Alright, I cave. :P

You should post pretty pictures. :]

oh look at that i'm back on tumblr for some reason

So.

There has been almost no progress since last we spoke, Hypothetical Audience. No artists want to work with me, so far. The anthology is more or less dead in the water. Failure is the odor du jour. BUT. Kirk Warren, of the fantastic comics blog The Weekly Crisis re-tweeted something interesting from writer Brian Clevinger.

Indy Comic Book Week

Basically, the last week of the year, there is no shipping through Diamond (the main comics distributor), so this is an opportunity for indie creators (such as myself) to put something out through their local shops and hopefully get noticed by potential fans and whatnot.

So, I’m going to try and participate. I have a couple of scripts for issue ones just sitting there. I know what I want to do with them. One is a superhero story, more or less, the other is an urban fantasy that shifts gears after Act 1 and becomes a dystopian resistance story then becomes extremely (some would say boneheadedly ambitious)  metafictional by Act 3. So there’s that. Maybe, just maybe, I can get the scripts done by the end of October. Could happen. Maybe, hypothetically, I can get a couple of artist friends onboard during that time and be storyboarding and getting pencils done whilst writing. It’s a gamble. And maybe we get done by the end of November? I know a printer, maybe I can get a discount. Print up 50 copies of each. Or maybe I just go to Kinko’s and do everything on cheap paper and print more? And in the mean time convince the five or so shops in the Miami area to carry my books? This can be done.

It is conceivable.

And if we can’t and things are looking grim, we just web publish.

Always have an out.

Tightening the belt...

This really sucks. I have gotten almost no hours at my job these last couple of weeks, so as a consequence my “fun” expenses are gonna suffer. Which means comic books. I have not missed a Wednesday in almost 3 years, starting with reading 52 at week 33 in Feb. of ‘07 and working my way up by buying the back issues. I afforded these books with, literally, my lunch money. I went without food. And this was 2 1/2 years ago. The addiction was not as strong yet. Man, fuck my job. I gotta go print out applications for Game Stop or someting.

So this week, since I haven’t missed any Wednesdays, I’m keeping the tradition alive by only picking up one or two.

I mean it, dammit.

That means definitely Invincible Iron Man. And definitely Strange Tales, if it’s there (It’s in the solicits but doesn’t show up in the Diamond lists. Same goes for Detective Comics) Ghost Rider if Strange Tales ain’t there. Oh yeah, and Buffy. Buying it since issue 1 and loved every bit of it. Except for some of the recent issues. But I think it’s back to form.

My list this week is as follows

Iron Man

Strange Tales

Buffy Season 8

It looks like unfortunately I’m going to become one of the hated “trade waiters.” Bunch of fools. *Mocking tone* “Looks good. I’ll wait for the trade.” Feh.

I am shamed.
